Melissa Boyd
Melissa practiced the principles and postures of yoga at a very young age, but
received her first certification from the Yoga Institute 8 years ago. She was
given the opportunity to train with Judith Lasater Phd. and Dr. Roger Cole 6
years ago and became a Relax and Renew trainer (Restorative Yoga) under
their tutelage.
Being certified in Restorative Yoga gives Melissa a unique perspective in
helping people recover from injuries as well as work with people from all fitness
levels. Teaching Restorative yoga has also enabled her to work with pre-natal
and post pregnancy students. In addition to Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga, Melissa also teaches Fertility Yoga, Kids Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Chair Yoga, and Stroga (partner based yoga incorporating strength training and yoga).
In Yoga for Fertility Melissa has found great success working with women that are combating infertility by combining Yoga philosophy to combat stress, with poses that balance female hormones. She has used her expertise at East Coast Body and Mind which is located at East Coast Fertility. Currently, she gives private lessons and will be starting group classes at Long island IVF.
To enhance her ability to help people with their injuries as well as their fitness goals, Melissa became certified in Polestar Pilates Allegro PF- A4. The principles of Pilates and core stability add to her knowledge of rehabilitation of the body. In the near future Melissa will be attaining her Full Pilates studio Certification.
Melissa has been a student of Dance for 26 years, and a teacher of dance for 13 years. In this time she has studied many different types of dance including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Ballroom, and Belly Dancing. She has offered classes and workshops at many different establishments throughout the course of her teaching. Currently Melissa has weekly classes in Belly-Dancing, and workshops in all dance, as well as private lessons.
Currently, Melissa is enjoying every moment of being Director and Owner of Satya Yoga and Pilates Studio. She is looking forward to a future of the studio to include nutrition, massage, yoga philosophy, and meditation. Satya will also emphasize the importance of yogic education by eventually instilling a 200-hour certification program.
Linda Lindaman
Linda has been practicing yoga for 30 years and teaching for 15. Classically
trained in the Igenyar style she brings to her classes a mix of styles she has
studied over the years such as Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Kripalu, and Kudalini.
She teaches workshops and classes all over Long Island, which include
students of all ages, from children to seniors. Her classes and workshops can
be described as an internal journey with an external flow; a Vinyasa flow with
attention to alignment details. You will become connected to every sensation
and breath of your body. Her approach to teaching with a sense of humor
and personal attention will leave you with a smile on your face and a natural
progression to practicing your yoga both on and off the mat.
Jeannean Mercuri
Jeannean Mercuri enjoys sharing her joy of yoga with all brave enough to
explore its unexpected gifts. Jeannean has been a Kripalu Yoga Instructor for
10 years. One of her most inspiring teachers is Yoganand Michael Carroll, a
direct disciple of Swami Kripalu. She has also studied Dynamic Yoga,
Anasura Yoga and Forrest Yoga styles. She was drawn to the Kripalu style
because it is so open to change, it allows for constant growth & adaptation.
Kripalu Yoga is often considered the Yoga of Consciousness.
She takes her Yoga classes to a very energetic level working deeply with the
breath to help the flow of Prana and to open the Chakras Alignment & breath
are integral to allowing Prana to flow smoothly. Watching through the mind's eye all Sensation that comes up in class (& out) allows one to witness their own consciousness and allow for personal growth. Jeannean has also had the special privilege to study with Shri Suraj Karan Jindel, affectionately known as "Papa".
Her passion for animals, horses & cats in particular, has been lifelong. Jeannean is currently a student of Equine Acupressure, a healing mode that will allow her to help horse's heal on an energetic level by increasing the flow of Prana (Chi) throughout the body. Her gift back to her horse who has opened her mind to a more Spiritual life. Jeannean's interest in healing has led on her the path of Reiki; she is a Reiki Master. She practices Reiki on all life forms.
Jeannean is also a Natural Barefoot Trimmer.In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors getting dirty, enjoying the Earth & Life!!
Eileen
Eileen is trained in the classic 8 limbs of yoga, is a graduate of Into This World Yoga Teacher Training and is certified by the Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level. Eileen’s passion is to continue developing her personal practice and sharing her love of yoga with her students. Her interests in breathing techniques, anatomy and physiology as well as the spiritual and philosophical aspects of yoga continue to be the driving force towards earning her 500 hour certifications.
Eileen began practicing yoga a few years ago to reduce stress and increase her sense of fulfillment. The integration of mind, body and spirit led her to her yoga certification. Her attraction to yoga was so strong she left a career in the technology field to focus all her energies on her yoga training. Eileen is honored to teach her students the empowering benefits of a dedicated yoga practice.
Marilyn Ann Gusmano
Marilyn Ann Gusmano has a 30 year background in dance, gymnastics and fitness. Her passion in dance had led her to attend O.D.U. of Virginia and C.S.L.B. of California, while she pursued a career in teaching. After she earned her degree in Elementary Education in 1996, it afforded her the opportunity to substitute in both New York and Florida School Districts. During this time she also coached 3 kickline/dance teams. Her teaching and choreography skills had enabled the Wellington High School Dance Team to achieve the 2nd place award at the National Dance Association competition.
In addition, Marilyn holds several certifications: A.F.A.A. Group Fitness Instructor, A.F.A.A. Advanced Personal Trainer, Aquatics and Ballecore.
In 2000, after her unfortunate neck and back injury from a car accident, she became a strong advocate of the Joseph H. Pilates “contrology” system. Because of her own rehabilitive challenges and belief in the Pilates discipline, it motivated her to receive 3 national/international Pilates Certifications: Physical Mind Institute (mat); IM=X (mat and reformer); and Polestar Allegro.
Her fascination in the origins of the Pilates repertoire, along with her desire to help others, has allowed Marilyn to further advance herself by most recently achieving POLESTAR’S Studio/Rehab Certifications. She is currently a principal teacher of the Pilates method at the Satya Studio.
